AIAB Foreign Language Pack v1.2 - Assembled by Jaybee - 15/03/01 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NB: This archive was intended for use with the AIAB archives! Whats It All About? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Using AIAB is a piece of cake if you come from the Australia, the UK or the US, but what happens if you don't speak English as a first language? If only you could change all the text in AIAB to French, German, or your mother tongue? Well, with this archive, you can! Never again will you have to keep an English translation dictionary on the side of your desk or ring up your uncle to ask what 'library' means ;) Thats right peeps - the long awaited AIAB Language pack is available now, adding much requested multi-lingualism to AIAB! NEW! I've recently added several Keyboard layout files, which ought to make life even ~~~ easier for foreign AIAB users. Go to the url below for info on changing the default keyboard settings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Available Languages: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Full Support: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dansk Deutsch English (!) Español Français Italiano Nederlands Norsk Português Svenska Partial Support: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ÃeÓtina Català Czech Greek Hrvatski Magyar Polski Russian Srpski Suomi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation (Note: A more detailed guide with screenshots, can be found on the AIAB site) ~~~~~~~~~~~~ (at the following url: http://www.emuunlim.com/aiab/languages/index.html ) Extract the 'AIAB-Language.zip' archive to the path which holds the WinUAE folder. eg: C:\Program Files\ if WinUAE is installed in C:\Program Files\WinUAE\ overwriting files if prompted. Then: 1. Load WinUAE, & click okay. 2. Once the AIAB setup has loaded, double-click the 'Locale' programme on the desktop. 3. From the GUI, click 'Clear Languages' 4. Select your country from the 'Coutries' box. 5. Now click one of the Languages in the 'Available Languages' box. 6. If you can speak any other languages, click them. Locale searches for usable translation files for each programme, if no files for the first (preffered) language can be found, it goes down the 'Preffered Languages' box, looking for translations, until eventually falling back to English if nothing can be found. 7. Finally, once you are happy with your selections, click 'Save' If all goes to plan, you should see (most) programmes and menus etc in your native language. NEW! - Keyboard Layout settings! ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 8. Double click the 'Workbench' harddrive icon, then 'Prefs', then 'Input'. 9. Select from the GUI list the keyboard layout/language you wish to use. 10. Click 'Save' (or whatever 'Save' is in your new native language!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: ~~~~~~~ v1.2 - Added some files from EPA's Greek Workbench set, after 'Admiral' asked me to look into it on the AIAB Discussion Board. Im not Greek so cant really test it, but Im assuming it will be slightly better than having everything in English. The keyboard map files have odd names though ('ELOT928' and 'USAELOT') so its not absolutely which one should be used. Unfortunately, I was unable to implement everything from EPA's pack, so you may want to try out the archive yourself, if you're interested: http://www.imbb.forth.gr/people/papanik/EPAGrWb.html v1.1 - A maintainance update. Removed some catalogs for redundant files, and added a few for new additions (such as Scalos). This pack also has some improved Finish catalogs, sent to me by Lauri Ojansivu, which ought to have more accurate accents. v1.0 - Initial release. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And Finally.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please remember that this upgrade marks the beginning of a new, multi-lingual era for AIAB, and should be treated as an ongoing upgrade, therefore dont expect it to work perfectly yet! Sorry if there is little or no translation in your langauge. I've tried to cover as many languages as I can, but Im limited to the amount of time I can spend putting AIAB together, and juggling it around my schoolwork....dont forget that AIAB is *free*, so you cant expect too much! ;) Anyway, I hope you find this upgrade useful, Cya!
