AIAB Apidya - assembled by Jaybee (re-uploaded in 2001!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This game was originally on the AIAB site way back when it used to be at ClassicGaming.com. Then, when I was moving to EmuUnlim.com, and I wanted everything to be legal and squeeky -clean, I wrote to BlueByte asking to use the game on my site, but they declined. Due to the strict piracy laws that ZtNet servers are run under (which includes EmuUnlim), I was unable to make this game available - especially after the company that owned the rights to it had rejected my request ;( Anyway, I recently heard that BlueByte had been taken over by the massive French company, UbiSoft, who were kind enough to let me use Unreal (all those years ago!). Basically, I asked UbiSoft (who now own the rights to BlueByte's software catalogue, meaning [I guess] I could put more games online...) for permission to use Apidya on the site, and they agreed! Hence the game is now on the AIAB site, in all its fixed, hd-installed glory! Whats It All About.....now? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi there AmigaInABox peeps! Requested by nearly everyone, here is another AmigaInABox games upgrade - Apidya. Wow! What a fantastic game....I remember playing this two player with my mates, singing along to the music, showing off with fancy tricks and weapons, and generally thinking how all-powerfull my A500 was. Combining impressive, colourfull graohics, smooth parallax scrolling, liquid animation, one-more-go gameplay, meaty soundFX and an in-game music soundtrack to better the classic TFMX tunes of Turrican, Apidya was the definative A500 shootemup (stated by Amiga Power no less!). Unfortunate then, that it was overshadowed by Agony and ProjectX at the time. Several years later, its still great fun to play, and those stomping tunes have retained all their musical wizardry. Just use a 'HD-Games' configuration in WinUAE, boot the Amiga, and double-click the game icon. The installer adds highscore saving, a mini trainer and Numeric-* quitkey - but check the docs for info. --------================-------- Tips: If you wish to see the power-up bar along the bottom, you'll need to configure ~~~~ WinUAE to use a larger (verticle) resolution, otherwise it will be cut off ;) There are several cheats to enter on the title screen - try "SHOWCREDITS" and press return, to see the credits screen, and listen to its brilliant music. UPDATE: We're now using the latest Apidya.slave v1.4 - from Harry/Mr Lamer - this fixes ~~~~~~ a few music/sound related glitches, so everything should now be 100% perfect ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just extract this zipfile to exactly the same place you extracted the first AIAB.zip file, overwriting any files when prompted. Simple, huh? No? Well okay, imagine AIAB is installed in C:\WinUAE, you would have to extract this archive to C:\ Cya! James Maurice Battle - jaybee@aiab.freeserve.co.uk - http://aiab.emuunlim.com
