AIAB Internet v1.2 - Assembled by Jaybee 19/05/01 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ NB: This archive was intended for use with the AIAB archives! Whats It All About.....now? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ By fairly popular demand, here is an AIAB upgrade dedicated to Amiga Internet applications. Ever since WinUAE has featured BSDsocket.library emulation, the emphasis has been on sufing the net via Amiga emulation. Personally, I think its a bit like walking through mud, but with the recent advent of the JIT CPU code, the whole thing is made more enjoyable. Included in this archive you'll find the following Amiga internet tools: Voyager 3 - Arguably the best browser for the Amiga (at least the only one getting updated regularly...). Now supports the luxuries that PC browsers have enjoyed for years - namely JavaScript and Flash. AmIRC - Easily the best Amiga IRC client, if not the nicest on any platform! AmIRC is so easy to use and jst 'feels' so much nicer than MiRC. mFTP - Nice FTP client. Im not sure if its as good as the old gem AmFTP, but its more upto date, and people say they prefer it, so... StrICQ - Well supported Amiga ICQ client, full of features. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: ~~~~~~~ v1.2 - Fixed GlowIcons update problems whereby the 'Music' icons were used. Added a bit of information to resolve programme start problems. Nothing else ;) v1.1 - Updated Voyager and AmIRC to the newest public versions. Added 'StrICQ' ICQ client. Swapped AmFTP for mFTP - its newer (!), and people prefer it. Added icon switching functionality, introduced in AIABr10. v1.0 - Initial release. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: If you find the applications do not run when double-clicked, try copying the entire ~~~~~ 'Internet' folder to the 'Ram Disk', and run them from there. Also, you may find that when run, Voyager will claim the programme has been used for over 200 days, and start a slow count-down clock. You do not have to wait for the counter to time-out however, just click the 'Register' button, and Voyager will continue to load as normal. Oh, and dont forget to register Voyager if you're impressed/like it ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just extract this zipfile to exactly the same place you extracted the first AIAB.zip file, overwriting any files when prompted. Simple, huh? No? Well okay, imagine AIAB is installed in C:\WinUAE, you would have to extract this archive to C:\ Cya! James Maurice Battle - j.m.battle@bradford.ac.uk - http://aiab.emuunlim.com/
